What We Do
MauiBDSM Provides...
MauiBDSM provides some esoteric things which are hard to pin down, but very important to those who need them. We provide a context in which to play as well as opportunities for growth. We help to maintain a certain level of safety as well as a sense of community with recognition of achievements, tolerance of differences, and a well defined structure to operate in.
Events
We host a munch on the third Saturday of each month. This event is for people to come out and meet the community. A munch is an informal public gathering that is designed to be completely unthreatening and approachable for even the most shy, tentative, or privacy conscious person.
We also host social events, such as BBQ's and dinners that are mainly about conversation and catching up with friends. Occasionally there is some light play, but not always.
Our play parties are not posted on the website. We prefer to keep them private and only invite people who we think would be a good fit for the specific party. If you want to come to the parties, you’ll need to come to a social event first so we can make sure you’re not a psycho. Some of the parties are light and friendly with not much nudity or sexual content, while others can get a lot more intense.
The public events are listed on our calendar which you can subscribe to using standard internet tools.
Munches
MauiBDSM http://MauiBDSM.org hosts a munch on the third Saturday of every month at the Queen Kaahumanu shopping center upstairs in food court past Edo. Look for black and/or purple balloons on the table.
What's a Munch? Munches have become a way to meet like-minded kinky folk in an informal and hassle-free environment. On Maui, we use munches and classes as a way to get to know folks before inviting them to parties and other events. Jay Weisman has written a good article: http://www.soj.org/articles/A%20Beginners%20Guide%20to%20BDSM%20Munches.htm
What to expect at a Munch? We usually have between 2-15 people from 21-50 years of age. It is a mixed crowd of men and women , some into D/s, some into SM, some into fetish attire, we see people who are just discovering the scene and people who have been educators and authors that have been recognized in the community for many years.
How much does it cost? It's free to attend, but it's located in the food court, so many folks have something to eat while they are there.
What to wear to a Munch? We are in the open at the food court, please dress appropriately for the mall and don't attract attention. We like to blend in.
