MauiBDSM Provides...

MauiBDSM provides some esoteric things which are hard to pin down, but very important to those who need them. We provide a context in which to play as well as opportunities for growth. We help to maintain a certain level of safety as well as a sense of community with recognition of achievements, tolerance of differences, and a well defined structure to operate in.

First and foremost, what every individual needs is an environment and context in which to express themselves. This environment has to be consistent with the needs of the individual and must avoid judgements and preconceptions that might interfere with self expression. The prescribed social norm was designed to reduce tension and promote certain agendas that not everyone subscribes to. For those of us who enjoy some controlled tension, among other things, a different context is necessary. By creating an environment where differences are seen as a thing to be admired, a whole new realm of possibilities is opened.

In order to do all of these things that we want to experience, at least the interesting things, we need willing partners. Even those in committed relationships may have things that their partner is just not willing to do. The most significant way to improve our chances of having people want to do the things that we want to do is to learn the skills to do them properly. Nobody wants to get tied up by someone who isn’t sure how to tie (or untie) a simple knot. The more you know, the more people will want to do with you. This applies to skills like whipping as well as skills like maintaining poly or D/s relationships. Additionally, the more you know, the more interesting things you will want to do. This kind of personal growth is hugely important, and much more fun than anything you learned in school.

For anyone who wants to play dangerously, the most important skill set that needs to be learned is safety. This is a big topic, since safety applies to the technical aspects of the play itself, as well as who people play with, and in many cases even maintaining confidentiality. All of our workshops cover the safety aspects of the activity, and we dedicate classes to important general topics like infectious diseases.

Part of the purpose of this organization is to screen people as they come into the community to ensure they are safe and their motives are in the right place. What this means for new people is that there is a pool of pre-screened people here who come with recommendations. This also means that all new people have to go through the same screening process as everyone else. Our protocol is a little different form other lifestyles, but it works well and I think you'll find it easy and fun.

MauiBDSM is made up of a supportive and tight knit community of people who provide each other with support, networking, advice and occasionally help moving heavy things. The community gets together as a group for social events several times each month and individuals who share common (vanilla or BDSM) interests regularly hang out outside of anything structured and scheduled.
It is important for people to have recognition when they put effort into something. By surrounding themselves with people who understand what is involved, accomplishments, competence and dedication can be recognized and shown the proper respect.

Sometimes people just need for someone to accept their differences. In a social climate where every little difference can be singled out and targeted, it can be hard to find people to talk to about the important stuff like relationship preferences and unorthodox predilections. This community provides that tolerance and acceptance to anyone who is willing to give it in return.

Many people have a craving for structure that is not easily satisfied. People try to use all kinds of things to fill that role in their lives, but it can be hard. Many of us have spent a considerable amount of time thinking about these issues and coming up with ways to provide this to ourselves or our loved ones and playmates. We bring this understanding back to the community and anyone can take advantage of it, with the right attitude. We provide a structured context for providing service in a way that is rewarding to both the giver and the receiver(s). We provide a predictable process for each step that one must go through in integrating into the community. We also take the laid back culture of Maui into account and find some balance in order to not be to militant in our approach to making this work.
